So there have been two sexual assaults here on campus over the last few weeks. Since there is going to be a home game this weekend, there will be a lot of parties and fun stuff going on, but please stay safe! This does not just go for the girls; even though less then 3% of assault victims are males, everyone is at risk! Please, everyone is special and important- do not put your self in danger for some 'fun'! That being said, I found an interesting public poster about self defense and other cool things. Enjoy!
Wow that's こわい (scary)!
ReplyDeleteえい?そうですか?I like to think of it as an empowerment to women everywhere. But yeah, knowing that women can and will do this is kinda intimidating...すごい!This might be weird to say, but I actually carry pepper spray around all the time. Safety first!

ReplyDeleteThat's a really cool demonstration! Even though it might be a bit frightening, it's good information to know! I also carry around pepper spray and a whistle with me everywhere...
ReplyDeleteIt's really important to be safe! My older sister goes to RIT in Rochester NY, and she carries a taser with her.
DeleteI love how absolutely stoic the woman in the gifs is. It's sad, though, that all of those who have commented before me feel the need to carry around weapon-ish things to defend yourself. I hope we move towards a safer world soon.

ReplyDeleteIf only...You are right, people should not have to feel fear while living their lives. However, everyone can make a difference, and I hope everyone tries to.

Deleteありがとうございます for helping to raise awareness about this issue!
ReplyDeleteいいえ、just doing what i condsider to be right. I just hope someone can benefit from this.
DeleteWe've been getting so many 'CRIME ALERT Sexual Assault Report' emails this semester. It's bad. I wish more were being done than "Prayer Services"...like a raw confrontation of why this happens, exploring something really subtle but sinister like gender dynamics. What do you think?
ReplyDelete^ This!
DeleteAbsolutely. I believe we live in a time in which we should be able to openly talk about gender relations, and we are at an age in which we can say "I want to do something about this". Although I do not believe there are any definitions as to what a "man" or "women" is, there are boundaries and limits in respect to how we can interact with each other. If we could just be open instead of tip-toeing around the subject, relationships could be honest and there wouldn't be the need to "read into" situations and trying to decipher "codes" and "signs". If we were open and respected each other, there wouldn't be misconceptions about what "No" means!
NO MEANS NO DANG IT!
