My name is Roxanna Mendoza, I'm from Dallas Texas, and I am very happy to be taking this course with all of you.
I am completely new to the north and this university. Most of my friends and classmates stayed in Texas and are going to local universities. Many of them have asked me why I decided to leave, and why did I want to go so far. Truth be told, I didn't really plan on coming here...in the beginning.
I went to a charter school for middle and high school. There, the teachers really pushed the students, and prepared us for college. The school was so confident in us that they encouraged us to apply to as many universities as we wanted- they would pay for everything! SO, being the overachiever that I am, I applied to 17 universities. Out of all the universities that accepted me, Notre Dame was the highest ranking and the one that offered me the most money, so, here I am!
I am a Business Administration major, with a possible Japaneses minor, international business certificate, and marketing background. My dream is to work for Pixar- I want to work as a manager or chief and work my way up to the position of' Executive Creative Officer'. I have always had a passion for story telling; my obsessions include animated movies, cartoons, anime, and manga. From there, my love for Japan and it's culture was born, and my need to learn the language has brought me here! I also really like children, as explained by my English/European history teacher, I am a '35 year old leader in a young adult's body with the joy and imagination of a 5 year old'.
I truly believe that everyone has an inner child inside, so I have decided to use this blog space no only for our course, but also to share some amazing pictures and giffs to entertain you guys and hopefully brighten your day! Remember, life is what you make of it, so please try to enjoy yourselves!
Till next time!
So how as first week of classes been, please tell me you're not as done as this guy....
メンドザさん (I sure hope that's your name in katakana. Correct me if I'm wrong!)
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say, I love your gifs! The kid dancing in front of his computer… :) Good luck with your goal of working for Pixar! See you in class. じゃあまた。
I really love all of these giffs! It's not like I just browse Google looking for them...I look at Tumblr! I like to look at anime, manga, and movie posts a lot, and the people on there are so funny! Thank you very much for your support; slowly but surly, reaching our dreams! :D
DeleteOh my gosh, you have so many gifs! Cool.
ReplyDeleteI also admire your goal of working for Pixar. Knowledge of Japanese culture will definitely help you move up in a company!
Thank you very much! I sure hope I get there one day. The good thing about Disney is that they have very close ties to Ghibli, so they might find Japaneses as a very valuable asset. Honestly, I wouldn't mind working for Dreamworks, but they have Dreamworks oriental in China, so I'm not sure if they would find me as useful as Disney. :P
DeleteGahhh! Gif overload! But that's all good. I think you've got what it takes to make it all the way in Pixar! Anyway, I look forward to a great year with you.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, my friend! Speaking of the rest of the year, isn't t funny how the anime club went from over enthusiastic to sleep deprived exhausted zombies, huh? Or is that just how I feel?
DeleteI think you have an obvious adventurous side which will be very fun to have in class! You also have a great sense of humor, and I am looking forward to the coming semester!
ReplyDeleteThat's the nicest thing you've said to me so far this year! Lol, jk. Thanks for those nice words of encouragement...when ever I feel down I like to look at this blog and other networks I'm on...I'm so thankful to be surrounded by such amazing people.
DeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE YOUR LAST GIF. IT MADE MY DAY.
ReplyDeleteIT MADE MINE WHEN I SAW IT; THAT'S WHY I PUT IT HERE OHMAIGAWD ISN'T IT PERFECT?!
DeleteI love your originality and that you did not change for anyone. Like you, I am very far from home and all I hear from my friends are why did you go so far. To be honest, I'm glad I am here experiencing something completely new. I also love the gifs. You have to introduce me to some anime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting and telling me that. What I can't wait for is to get back home and rub it into people's faces how awesome of an experience I'm having here. :D As for anime, some great one's to start with are:
DeleteFull Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Attack on Titian
One Piece
Bleach
just wiki them, read the plots, and get ready to be hooked!
こんにちわ!Those gifs are hilarious. The first one vividly depicts my Friday afternoon...
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it for everyone? :D
DeleteThanks so much for all the support guys! It's been hard getting used to all the classes and homework, right? But thank to awesome people like you guys, this year is going to be epic!
